State Senior Olympics
In addition to regional Senior Olympics, there is a state Senior Olympics competition held every year. The state games rotate among the regional games on a two year cycle. The state competition is open to any individual who has competed at a regional competition, and to individuals from other states.
At a minimum, the state competition offers the full event menu offered at the National Senior Games: The Senior Olympics. The state games held in even numbered years (2002, 2004, 2006 etc) act as qualifying games for the national competition held in odd numbered years (2003, 2005, 2007, etc.)
The criteria for qualifying for the national competition vary depending on the event. In some cases, the criteria is a first or second place finish, other sports= criteria may be performance based, i.e. meeting a minimum standard.
The state Senior Olympics are under the jurisdiction of Ohio Senior Olympics, an Ohio not-for-profit corporation that is the designated organization to coordinate Senior Olympics in the state of Ohio.
Your local/regional Senior Olympics host can provide you with additional information about the state competition.
