Make A Difference

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."- Anne Frank

There are a number of ways that you can make a difference in your local community. Whether you become involved in a volunteer opportunity- short or long term, advocate for issues that are important to older adults, or donate to programs and services that help older adults, we can all do our share to make a difference. Select from the list below to learn how you can make a difference.

  • Advocacy - Much of the funding for the formal services system that supports older adults living at home in the community comes through the federal or state government. Our legislators need to hear from people in the community about the value of those services as they make funding decisions.
  • Donate - While funding for older adult services is funded in part by tax dollars, the need for help is always greater than the amount of funding available to provide services.
  • Employment Opportunities - Interested in working with older adults? Learn about employment opportunities at the Area Agency on Aging 11, Inc.
  • Make a Difference for a Nursing Home Resident - Learn about the important role volunteers play in the long term care ombudsman program and how you can make a difference in the life of a nursing home resident.
  • Get Involved in Your Community! - Many programs and services rely on the support of volunteers. Learn about the ways you can share your time with those in need.
