Our Governance
Area Agency on Aging 11, Inc. is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. The trustees are representatives of each of the four counties served by the Area Agency on Aging. According to the By-laws under which the Trustees operate, the agency has two types of trustees: representative trustees and at-large trustees. Representatives Trustees are the heads of government (or their appointees) from the cities of Ashtabula, Warren, Youngstown and East Liverpool and the heads of government (or their appointees) from the counties of Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana. At-large Trustees are representatives from each of the counties. In addition, the Chair of the Advisory Council also serves as a Trustee.
The Trustees have ultimate responsibility for the conduct of the organization. In addition, the provide oversight to the programs and operations of the Area Agency on Aging. Trustees meet monthly on the third Friday of each month, at the Agency's corporate headquarters in Youngstown.
In addition to the Board of Trustees, the Agency also has an Advisory Council. Advisory Council members are also representatives from each of the four counties. The Advisory Council meets quarterly, or as deemed necessary, and comments on all policies, programs and actions that affect older persons in the Planning and Service Area.
